ESCAPE-pain

ESCAPE-pain classes help people with osteoarthritis manage their condition better and have less pain thanks to an innovative six-week physiotherapist led group exercise and education rehabilitation programme.
This is a national AHSN Network adoption and spread initiative.

ESCAPE-pain is a national AHSN adoption and spread initiative to offer patients the reassurance and support they need to exercise safely over a six-week exercise and education course.

Each cohort is encouraged to share their progress, concerns and experiences to support each other through the programme. They learn when to push themselves and when to resthelping them build strength and live in less pain.

At the end of the programme, participants are signposted to services to help them continue to progress. There is also an app and online version of the course to allow participants to use the ESCAPE-pain programme if they are not able to get to the classes in person.

You can learn more about the programme and see where classes are run in your area on the ESCAPE-pain website.

“ESCAPE-pain has made a great start in the Eastern region. According to the first reports from participants, the programme has demonstrated a clear clinical impact, bringing a reduction in pain and improvement in participants’ quality of life.”
